Surrounded by limestone cliffs, this beautiful picture-perfect scenery can be reached after a walk up a mountain trail. Kayangan Lake is one of Coron’s primary attractions. Accessible by a steep 10-minute climb, the crystal-clear waters of Lake Kayangan are nestled into the mountain walls; underwater is like a moonscape.

Running through the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, the Enchanted River, also known as Hinatuan River, is not only a beautiful body of water, but a stunning natural mystery — no one knows exactly where the river comes from. Although the river’s source is undetermined, it is still a popular destination for swimmers and divers alike.

The Hinatuan Enchanted River is a deep spring river on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. It flows into the Philippine Sea and the Pacific Ocean at Barangay Talisay, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. It is found between the boundaries of Barangays of Talisay and Cambatong.

With its tranquil blue waters, palm trees and rock pools, this idyllic river in the Philippines is nothing short of paradise. Because the saltwater river seems to have no source.

The river's unusual colors and unexplored depths has inspired various local legends. One story tell of fairies that added the colors of sapphire and jade to the river to make its unique shade. Local fisherfolk also report seeing fish in the river that cannot be caught through any means. According to locals, the river was called the Enchanted River because of the Engkantos. Engkanto are environmental spirits that have the ability to appear in human form.They are often associated with the spirits of ancestors in the Philippines. They are also characterized as spirit sorts like sirens, dark beings, elves, and more. Belief in their existence has likely existed for centuries,and continues to this day that dwell there. Their legends also say that the river is haunted by supernatural beings which act as its protectors.
